Pete Duel

The Bounty Hunter

How to Reach Laura, the Pete Duel Memorial Site creator, and a fan of Pete's since 1971

More than 36 years later, Pete Duel is still bringing joy to our lives. For many people, he was recently discovered when reruns of Alias Smith & Jones were shown on the Starz Westerns Channel and Season One of the series was released on DVD. And so, for many people doing their research, they very recently just learned that Pete died tragically and at an early age.

The Pete Duel Memorial Site was designed to celebrate the life of this remarkable man. What I won't do is entertain a dialogue about the reasons for or speculations about his death (there are plenty of other sites doing that) or any other aspect of his life that none of us truly knows anything about. The person who has those answers is no longer with us.

But if you would like to share your thoughts, photos, poetry, stories, and epitaphs, please email your expressions and all other inquiries to The Pete Duel Memorial Site.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Go rest high on that mountain; son, your work on earth is done...

Pete lived simply so that others could live. He donated time to charities and was active politically, too. In the photo above, he attends an event honoring Henry Fonda.

On His Fans
I guess that’s why I enjoy reading fan mail so much. The people who write to me are very honest and very sincere — and most of the time they’re absolutely right in what they have to say. I get letters from people who are, of course, complete strangers to me. But they know me. It makes me feel good, because I try hard to bring a lot of myself into the role of David Willis. 1967
