Hi Eva,
Yes, I am grateful to Laura too, for doing this wonderful site. My heart hurts also after all of these years. What was there about this man? Anyway, I read an article about one of the stand ins and he mentions the horse. He referred to him as a clay back. The horse looked to me like he was a red dun. In looking up the term clay back, a dun coloring is mentioned. Anyway, I think this horse was originally rode by Wheat in the the pilot of AS&J. Later on in the series Pete asked that he be able to ride the horse more. He had a feather shaped white mark on his forehead as well. Yes, Pete looked like he was very comfortable on the back of a horse and rode very well. God, he was as close to being the image of the perfect man as I have ever seen. Unfortunately, he also had demons that persisted to cause him too much pain. Such a horrible waste of so much talent. I am so sorry, he was so miserable.

Who needs Calgon when I’ve got my cowboy to take me away? Thanks again for doing this request for me Laura. Whenever I’m having a particularly rough day, I can watch this video or pop in an ASJ dvd and he does take me away from it all. May the good Lord bless you and your family this holiday season. And may He bless you for the wonderful work you do for animals and for the amazing way you help keep Peter’s memory alive.

Wonderful tribute to this beautiful man. I recently came across the AS&J series on DVD. I watched it as a kid and loved it, and I think the trauma of Pete dying caused me to block it out for many years. It all came back to me again when I started it watching the series again. I am really amazed again at this man’s raw talent. I guess it is a testament to his ability that he could portray a character like Hannibal Heyes, with his ready smile and upbeat style, but in real life be so unhappy. I would give anything to tell him how much I cared about him when I was 14 and still do at 54. It wasn’t just that he was handsome, you could see that he was special in every way. Rest well dear Pete, you will never be forgotten.

What a wonderful video, some clips I have never seen before. I was also one of his many UK fans (17 at the time) and was so, so devastated when he died, still can’t believe he is no longer with us, its good to know that I am not the only one to miss this beautiful, talented man, just to see him ride is an art in itself. Loved him then and always will. Also, Juliet Mills is one lucky lady to get a kiss like that!!!
